DUTY CHIEF MILE OUT WITH A HEAVY SMOKE COLUMN
Wed, Feb 11th, 2009 6:31:00 pm - Around 14:07 hrs Communications received a call reporting a possiable barn fire in the area 1635 Haunstein Road. Duty Officer (Asst. Chief Splain) advised communications to start the 2nd alarm, he was approx one mile out with a heavy smoke column in the area. Duty Officer 7-9 then arrived with a 30X50 barn well off and established the 7-9 Command. Engine 7-9-2 arrived and dropped approximately 1000' of 5" supply line for the water supply to be established, crews deployed a 200' 2" attack line, a 200' 2 1/2 attack line, and 200' 1 3/4 attack line. Engine 41-1 was the 2nd arriving Engine and assisted Engine 7-9-2 with fire suppression. Crews remained on the scene with extensive over haul for about 2 hours.
