Tuesday, July 1, 2008 - At 16:00 hrs Company 7-9 and surrounding companies were alerted to 48 Village Square Dr, for a reported dwelling fire. Medic 7-4-9 marked up with a heavy black column in the area. Chief 7-9-3 (Soders) marked up and Commutations advised him this was to be a shed fire to the rear of the structure. Engine 7-9-2 arrived with a working shed fire to the rear of the structure. Chief 7-9-3 (Soders) then arrived and held the response to 7-9 and 7-10. Rescue and Squad arrived and Command 7-9 (Soders) advised them to check the residence house for possible extension inside. No extension was made into the house just high heat to the exterior. After the fire was extinguished Command marked control of the fire and placed all units in service.   | | Photos by Will Nye |

Saturday, June 28, 2008 - As crews were getting ready to head down to stand-by for the annual Fire Works in Marietta, Company 7-9 and 7-1 were alerted to 3 Center Square for an Auto Alarm. Deputy 7-9 (Mohr) went on scene with a 3-story apartment complex with nothing showing. Engine 2, the Rescue and the Squad arrived and Crews checked the building to find a manual pull station on the 3rd floor. Crews found there to no problem and Deputy 7-9 (Mohr) cleared the assignment.
At 19:00 hrs Crews headed down to stand-by for the fire works at Donegal Mutual, and the Health Campus. A special thanks goes out to Truck 2-6, Truck 8-1, and 41 for assisting us this year.

Sunday, June 22, 2008 - At 19:02 hrs Engine 7-9-2 was alerted to 4582 Klinesville Rd in West Hempfield Twp for an Environmental Rescue. Crews were advised this was to b a 30-year-old male with a tractor rolled over top of him Approximately ½ mile in the woods. Engine 7-9-2 went en route with 6 Deputy Chief (Mohr) in the seat. Chief 7-6 (Ney) arrived to find one patient unconscious in a remote area. He also advised county to start air medical. Command 7-6 assigned the Engine to set up the Landing Zone at the best location for quick access to the patient. Crews from 8-1 and 7-6 had the patient to the LZ with in minutes. Air Medical was landed with in minutes.  |

Saturday, June 21, 2008 - At 12:37 hrs. Company 7-9 and Tanker 7-1 were alerted to the 1600 block of Old River Rd for a reported Vehicle Fire. Chief 7-9 (Kosheba) marked up and county advised him he was going to have one vehicle well in the area. Engine 7-9-2 went enroute with 5 and L.T (Splain) in the seat. Chief 7-9 arrived to confirm a working vehicle fire with no exposures and he will have the 7-9 command. Engine 7-92 arrived and deployed and 1 3/4 hand line. Fire was quickly extinguished. Friday, June 20, 2008 - Around 15:16 hrs. Rescue 7-9 was alerted to 2285 Oak Hollow Dr. (West Hempfield Twp) to assist on an Apartment building Fire. Rescue 7-9 went en route with 8 and Asst. Chief 7-9-1 (Trostle) in the seat. Crews already on the scene quickly extinguished the fire. Rescue 7-9 arrived and Level 2 Staged until placed in service. |

Sunday, June 15, 2008 - Around 23:00 hrs Company 7-9 and 7-1 were alerted to the 1600 block of River road for an MVA with possible entrapment. Chief 7-9 (Kosheba) marked up and county advised him of a one vehicle crash in the area of Vinegar Ferry Rd. Rescue 7-9 went with 8 and the Squad with 7. Chief 7-9 arrived to find a one vehicle crash in the field with rollover. Upon his 360 of the vehicle he advised county that he had one patient heavily trapped, another patient ejected and 2 other class one patients. Chief 7-9 then Took the 7-9 command and requested Life lion to the scene. Deputy 7-9 (Mohr) arrived and took the Extrication operations and advised command to start the 2nd air medical out of Lancaster for the ejected patient and also to dispatched York 41-1 and 7-1-2 for the Landing Zone. Rescue 7-9 and the Squad arrived and started the extraction. Engine 7-1-1 arrived and Command assigned them to assist with the extraction. After patients were in care of EMS, crews remained on the scene to provide lighting for the P.D. Extraction time of 10 minutes.  |

Sunday, June 8, 2008 - At 11:55 hrs Rescue 7-9 was alerted to 300 Cool Creek Road in Station 41’s first due for a reported structure fire. Rescue 7-9 went en route with 7 and L.T 7-9-3 (Barclay) in the seat. Rescue 7-9 was advised by York Communications that they were going to set up the R.I.T when they arrive. Engine 7-9-2 went en route with 5 and Deputy Chief (Mohr) in the seat. Chief 41 arrived to find a working fire. Rescue 7-9 arrived and set up the R.I.T. The R.I.T was later handed off to Rescue 34. Crews from the Rescue and Engine assisted with opening the roof up from the interior and overhaul. Fire was mostly contained to the roof. 7-9 units were placed back In service at 14:52 hrs.  |

Thursday, May 29, 2008 - At 8:34 hrs Engine 7-9-2 was dispatched to Marietta Boro to assist on a building fire. Engine 7-9-2 went en route with 5 and Asst. Chief 2 (Brinser) in the seat. County advised them that Chief 7-10 was on the scene with a working fryer fire. Upon the arrival on the Engine they were instructed to finish the lay from the hydrant, and go to the 2nd floor and check for extension. The fire was extinguished and Chief 7-10 placed the box in service at 9:02 hrs. |

Tuesday, May 27, 2008 - At 5:46 hrs Engine 7-9-2 was dispatched to Donegal Springs Rd and Beattys Tollgate Rd. Chief 7-9 went en route and county advised him on a tree on fire in a farmer’s field. Engine 7-9-2 went en route with 6 and L.T 792 (Splain) In the seat. Chief 7-9 arrived on the scene to find a well-involved tree fire. Engine 7-9-2 arrived and quickly extinguished the fire. Chief 7-9 placed the box in service at 6:19 hrs. |

Monday, May 26, 2008 - To start the day off at 6:16 a.m, Rescue 7-9 was dispatched 170 Elizabeth Street in 7-19’s first due for R.I.T on an apartment building fire. Rescue 7-9 went en route with 8 personnel. Rescue 7-9 was then placed in service at 6:39 hrs.
At 9:49 hrs, Crews 7-9 was preparing for the Memorial Day parades, Station 7-9, 7-1, and 7-10 were dispatched to 1195 River Road for an MVA involving a motorcycle. Rescue 7-9 went en route with 4 and L.T 792 (Splain) in the seat with the Squad following with 4. County advised them of a mini van that struck a Motorcycle. Deputy 7-9 (Mohr) arrived with the Squad and the Rescue and advised county that he had one class 1 patient lying on the road and to start the 2nd BLS for a class 2 patient. Crews from 7-9 and 7-10 controlled the hazards, and de-powered both vehicles. Apparatus was then placed In service at 10:46 hrs.
